Hello, and thanks for the great read! This part grabbed my attention especially: "Underlying the carbon-cutting question are: Where will the new energy industries be located? Who will be building the wind turbines, solar panels and highly efficient light emitting diodes? The countries that cut carbon emissions fastest will have a competitive advantage."
I hope India and China will benefit from the trend. It would be great if the US could rise to the occasion A more likely scenario is the US depending on oil until the last drop is squeezed from the planet... too much cash invested for alternatives to be seriously considered by the policy makers in DC.

China and India will appeal to social morality America will rely on private capital
Look for Asia to win out
As for America and its hatred of socialism there is not enough private capital with its short-term profit motif to reconstruct and modernize the antiquated national energy grid

"If you look at the science about what is happening on earth and aren’t pessimistic, you don’t understand data. But if you meet the people who are working to restore this earth and the lives of the poor, and you aren’t optimistic, you haven’t got a pulse." Paul Hawken
