I have made numerous posts on the subjects of Stone Age animism and Bronze Age shamanism and explained the vital importance those two pre-literate superstitions had in laying the foundations of mankind’s further social development.
Yet, I still struggle to make a post on other forums that is not immediately challenged on any subject that accepts our spirituality as a vital factor in human development.
The modern tendency to scoff at basic spiritual impulses as being little more than primitive ignorance, belies the fact that animism and shamanism were universally experienced and practiced for more than 100,000 generations by every hunter/gatherer and agricultural society across the length and breadth of the planet. In fact they are still in practice in a few undeveloped areas today.
What is not generally understood by our artificially-schooled modern minds is that; In the primitive mind, uncontaminated by script indoctrination, the connection between spirit and matter is as real as the connection between electricity and the light bulb is to science-indoctrinated mind. The superstitious realization that an invisible consciousness, able at any time to reach out and punish trespass, was as essential in maintaining ethical social behavior to them, as the tangible reality of officially policed law-enforcement is to us.
In addition, the unblocked extra-sensory perceptions of the pre-literate mind allowed for the inspired ideation and early development of hundreds of practical survival inventions. It is upon this primitive base of spiritually monitored social ethics, inspired invention and practical adaptation that modern cultures and technological industries are founded.
The disrespectful attitude moderns have towards our primitive spiritual foundations and the early attempts by religious scribes to explain our position in Creation is unfounded and ungraceful and a serious trespass against ancestral effort.
The New Age trend to re-invoke our extra sensory powers of perception, is not a fad. It is the impulse of the spirit to reassert its ethical and inspirational governance in our lives.
