My guess, our universe is a manifestation of God coming to know himself. The father is the seeker (Philo) whilst the mother is wisdom (Sophia), and when the father seeks the mother, that is, when God seeks to know himself, the physical universe comes into Being as a manifestation of this 'coming to know'. This explains why it evolves, because it is a process of 'coming to know'.
