Surrealism is a movement stating that the liberation of our mind, and subsequently the liberation of the individual self and society, can be achieved by exercising the imaginative faculties of the "unconscious mind" to the attainment of a dream-like state different from, or ultimately ‘truer’ than, everyday reality. Surrealists believe that this more truthful reality can bring about personal, cultural, and social revolution, and a life of freedom, poetry, and uninhibited lust. Surrealism is based on the belief in the superior reality of certain forms of previously neglected associations, in the omnipotence of dream, in the disinterested play of thought. It tends to ruin once and for all other psychic mechanisms and to substitute itself for them in solving all the principal problems of life.

I think living in a surreal state of mind, or a high state of mind, would be very interesting and worth a few experiences. But such a thing can’t be constant… We live in a practical world with practical problems, and surrealism can’t solve half if you ask me… It may bring us closer together, but thinking in that way for too long would surrender control from the left brain, which isn’t all bad, but would give it all to the right brain. Therefore, imbalance would still be present. Both sides must be active.

Both sides must be active. Well stated, nick. Interesting concept, rex. Always wondered what Dali got off on. Love his work

You would be so alien if you thought in this manner at all times, thet you would be locked away. It wouldn't be a good idea to detach yourself from normality, so I agree- there has to be a balance.
It's best to take a spool of string when traversing such a labyranth.
