My thanks to the person posting as magnetman on ilovephilosophy.com for inviting me here.
In the past I've spent a little too much time on forums so visits will, with luck, be a little infrequent.
I'm particularly interested in the "global management" forum so I'll probably post there most. With that said, here's why I like it. I've seen a little too much of two extremes- In the philosophy extreme, there's an incessant need to recapitulate special phrases and events in the lives of philosophers, without the hard barebones facts of the matter. It should be simple enough to not need the jumbled memory of elaborate history. In the science extreme (eg: howwhatwhy.com) there is a good amount of intelligent posters to answer science questions- but all that good science often seems wasted on fairly trivial endeavours ("I want to make a cool rocket launcher car" / "I want to build a robot that says funny things") It's nice to see the idea being encouraged that ordinary people can collaborate to literally design the world of tomorrow, without having to fall to the extremes I've mentioned.
So my next post will be in that planet management forum. After which I probably won't post here for a very long time. Somebody email me if you feel it's been too long.
Best regards. Thanks!
