Many people die with their psyches locked into unresolved conflicts of consciousness and therefore cannot enter the Astral Realm of free spirits. They remain suspended between Heavenly and Earthly states of consciousness. That state of suspension is known to Tibetan Buddhists as the Bardo Thardal. Taoists know it as the Realm of Hungry Ghosts.
This state of consciousness can remain haunted by irresolution and attempts to resolve their conflicts for indefinite periods - months, years, centuries. Prayers of forgiveness offered up by those they have offended in life, either deliberately or inadvertently, can help to free them and allow Earthly rebirth or, if the offense was not too egregious, entry into the Astral.

realistic, rather than this positive vibes overkill coming from enthusiasts with little knowledge and even less wisdom.
forgive my seeming negativity.

forgive my seeming negativity.I have personal experience in this I condemned my mother at her graveside she had turned to alcohol when my farther died and abandoned her children I did not know that my curse was sending her into limbo Ten years later she visited me in spirit I forgave her that same night in a dream my sister saw my mother enter heaven and reunite with my father she phoned me and told me nothing on earth can equal heavenly laughter

being there as one might wish for the moment when making a transition is not the same as being present during life..
a roaring thunder once would grace a childhood so abandoned meanwhile
