Every infant is born
equipped with a sense of superstitious awareness
the uncultured mind remains open to the boundless invisible world
of the imagination
therein lies fairies, goblins, imps, ogres
and the idea of God.
If this were not so
man would be an uninspired zombi
good for little more
than machining clocks
There would be no inner impulse
to explain the universe
wonder at the meaning of existence
write verse
or solve mysteries
with one another
Yet
ironically
superstitious awareness
is equated with primitive ignorance
instead of being praised
for its uncontaminated boundlessness
What pseudo-intellectual snobs
we all are
How foully has the clear mind been contaminated
and pigeon-holed by logic
to the point that we can no longer recognize
or acknowledge
the source of our inspirations
and the dreams
we have made real
