Medical advances in life extension brings to the table personal decisions in life cessation
If we no longer die natural deaths then who is to decide when to die? And how to end it?
I will be 70 next year though i am pretty fit bits and pieces of the body are beginning to break down and with that comes the knowledge that they will not recover but keep on deteriorating which makes thoughts of death part of my daily ruminations
With this in mind I have personally begun an imaginative preparatory process of gradually ac customizing myself both spiritually and intellectually to be ready for the death decision
With luck I have five or ten reasonably good years left It is my hope that during that time the State ends its ban on euthanasia and introduces a general educational guide that prepares us all for the inevitable and the means to do so

MagnetMan: the topic is ultra sensitive. with medical advancement came the mental urge to design life against its original nature. which used to be eternal, before first the soul and then the body were gradually deteriorating from failing to correspond with their DIVINE nature. is psyche-genetics given up now? does it have to succumb to powers hiding in anonymity and from there shaping our opinions to a "rational" compliance with economic and utilitarian purposes? back in the eighties already (with nuclear east-west conflict still soaring) i remember having read an article that plans are discussed to the tunes of giving the earth (and mankind) a rather sudden or a more long-drawn-out death. while i do not wish to deny anyone with a personal reason and agenda to end their lives, i am extremely sensitive to "selection" by scientific design and political endorsement. people, wake up! www.assistedsuicide.org/suicide_laws.htmlsince i have thoroughly read all your posts, here and on another forum, MM, i thought i know your stance on this issue and it being one fast becoming a death trap of organized "freedom" vs. another death trap set by misleading "faithful believers in god's righteousness". anonymous online debates may simply not suffice to keep hope and goodwill alive in a world that can make you believe you can't do any more wrong. cowardice is rampant, as far as i see.. \!! powers are also given to "moderators" on seemingly "dissident philosophy" forums who have no qualms abusing them in the most dismal ways: appearing to have superior "common sense". www.schreeuwomleven.nl/International/IndexFrR.htmbetween a right to die and a duty to die is only a very small step in the new world order design. seems very reasonable but just as unkind.

Lavender I do not know how old you are I can only report what is going on in my psyche as I learn to deal with old age and the gradual deterioration of the body
I cannot bear the idea of being an invalid unable to help myself
I will not give up life and health easy and will fight physical weakness all the way under my own terms and not that of another
My lungs are full of holes eaten away by industrial chemicals during the battle for survival
My bad I should have worn a mask but few were that awake while i grew to manhood
If my health worsens I plan to camp out in the high mountains breath clean air and think clean thoughts and see if I can cure myself if not I will exit myself
When my wife became helpless and took her own death in her own hands I felt love and respect no sense of dishonor

MagnetMan:
a woman's age is either treated with hatred or with contempt, but that aside, do we not know the impact of occupational (yes, precisely that!) hazards to health and well-being, imposed on us under threat of sanctions:
your story tells of a noble spirit, but death as a result of ignorant living must not be accepted; the system is devouring its children (spiritually), and the children never had the wholesome spirit healing anyone by understanding and applying their "knowledge" (physically). is this not a vicious cycle, and (sorry to say) the serpent referred to in genesis? (although the wisdom of other ancient cultures had the same original wisdom develop in less "triumphant" and more resilient ways?) pride goes before a fall.
i41 see the necessity for changing habit patterns of idealistic nobility, formalistic politeness, ritualistic loyalty, etc. breaking through the maze of resignatory indifference. \!! (seems like all these "terms" should be set in quotations.. since they are losing their value along with the faith in our contemporary's well-meaning and well-being..)
young people with energy surplus concentrating on/in the physical realm are different from elderly supposedly able to progress to a transformational use of energy (experience to knowledge and wisdom) that can well sustain their lives as counsellors (what was a "senate" once, huh?) ----- but they are now the "jews" to be gotten rid of, imho.
this warrior with a track record of some innocence, but a shield disgraced by accusations and "labels" is not now dodging the fight she obviously had to prepare for.
it's an overall corruption of all charitable "organizations" breaking down the "health care system" even where it once seemed deserving of its name.
life has become an engineering orgy (between technocrats and bureaucrats) with profane pursuits of ulterior sophistry unable to keep up with any purpose and meaning to a "sustainable future". sages and saints, where art thou?
swimming upstream to be eaten by bears? mind over matter? holy spirit, give me brains!

layfolks with a real concern apart from supporting the agendas of big pharma and attached medical practioners, researchers and legal advisors in tow ... should at least know what they are up against when so helplessly asking for laws to be changed, generally.
meanwhile the milking cow is indeed LEFT dying before even remotely anticipating what's going on in the slaughterhouse: some gods in white may also start thinking, eventually.....
no one reading this should accuse me of being a political radical or similar such.
