For me, taking mushrooms for the first time was the most profound experience of my life.
Psilocybin allowed me to see things objectively, without all the social strings attached. I was able to sovle persoanl problems in seconds, and I came to some interseting metaphysical conclusions.

I was able to sovle persoanl problems in seconds, and I came to some interseting metaphysical conclusions. Share some. I was once served an omlet of baby mushrooms in Pokora - and while staring at the snowy peaks of the distant Himalayas and the putrid scum of thousands of years of human existence flowing in the open drains directly below, literally saw the relationship between man and God.

Yes, seeing how humans take things for granted is one thing they allow you to see. Plants seemed different in this mindstate, in that they had an aura, and seemed to move differently in the breeze than something else. I could tell they were alive. Objects seemed to have little intrinsic value when they were prized possessions normally. Maybe because they weren't alive.
I stared into the mirrior, and I saw many aspects of myself. The relationship I have to my body, and appearance for example, and also deeper. I saw my skull through my face, my veins and arteries, my nerves, and some other things that appear to be strange to see. I basically became an Alex Grey painting, although I was still able to see normally if I wanted to. Eventually, My facial features started to change, and I appeared more pixie-like, with pointy elf ears. My skin turned a hue of orange, and then from that to a vivid magenta, and then red.
I eventually got lost in my mind after closing my eyes. I found myself in a black void, and a twinkle of light became apparant in the distance. The spot of light became closer and brighter- it was calling to me, and I heard wonderful music. I eventually realized this ball of light was the size of a star, and I was rejoining it because I was also made of this light. I began to see other small lights going into and out of it. I realized that these were other spirits.
I merged with the white star and felt the most abundant amount of knowledge and bliss. It was as if I knew everything, and I felt as if I was the universe, and I had all the wisdom of nature. I came out of it a new person.
I later realized this was a lot like near-death experiences, but I don't think there was a real reason for me to die that night. My ego died, but my body did not. I came out of this experience torn from what I was raised to believe, and entered a long phase of questioning metaphysical things. It took 7 years for me to digest and examine this experience and no longer be confused. I know what happened to me, and I can't say it was just a dream or a hallucination- what I experienced had to be real. How else would I have had all that wisdom and bliss? There was more to it than just my lone mind.

I believe without that experience alot of my metaphyscial adventure would not have been so relevant.

I am a true believer in psychedelics are a necessity. Like there are a hell of alot of people out there who could benenfit from the use of them. Agreed there is always an abuse problem but so many people are sooooooo rigid and messed up man what a little LSD wouldn't do for them. It should be like a class in High school or somehting like 4th period "Transcendental Studies" Get people to open up be more sensitive.

The Use of hallucinogenic drugs for spiritual insights goes back thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of years.
The following extract is taken from "The Varieties of Psychedelic Experience" , by Masters and Houston:
The Solanaceae family of plants, thorn apple, belladonna, mandragora and the henbanes and their relatives are found all over the world. They have served shamans as poisons, intoxicants, love potions, sources for dreams and visions and for a host of magical purposes.
Datura and the henbanes were known to the ancient Greeks. Datura was possibly used by the oracle at Delphi as a means of inducing possession by a God.
